Mera Peak Climbing
Mera Peak Climbing is one of the most astounding trekking tops in Nepal, reached by exploring one of the least known regions at the edge of Khumbhu. The all encompassing perspective of a few of the world’s most astounding tops over 8000m is the highlight of this climb. You’ll experience bona fide Sherpa culture, green and lavish scenery and interesting trekking trails over 17 days. You’ll cross Makalu Barun National Park with its high fields and alpine passes. You will experience traditional Sherpa villages, chilly moraines and lofty icy masses as well as walking in the sparsely populated Hinku valley.
We start our adventurous Mera Peak Climbing from a scenic flight to Lukla. Lukla is the busy portal of the Khumbhu, but instantly take the less investigated trail towards the Hinku valley. Through thick backwoods of rhododendron, oak, silver fir, birch and juniper, we’ll pass little settlements of stone houses until we reach the precarious face of Zwatra La Pass (4,610m). Forging on, we’ll enjoy delightful snow capped peaks and lakes and the Mera glacier as we take the trail towards the pinnacle. Passing through the settlements of Thangnak and Khare, we’ll at last achieve base camp and prepare for our ascent.
Views from Mera Peak
At the highest point of Mera Peak, we take time to appreciate panoramic views of the peaks of Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and Makalu, and take the obligatory summit shots before plunging down to High Camp, Base Camp and Khare. Through little settlements with refreshing teahouses and green rich scenery we come at last back to Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu.
To attempt Mera Peak Climbing you must be physically fit, as we will be walking steeply upwards for 6-7 hours a day in a high-altitude landscape. You must also be familiar with the use of ice axes and crampons. March to June and October to December are the best seasons to climb Mera Peak. Take this trip for a personal meeting with mountains off the beaten track and experience trekking while immersed in a one of a kind culture. Gather up your pack!
