Tamang Heritage Trail to Ruby

Tamang Heritage Trail, which is one of the most popular cultural trail was created by some Nepali NGOs who worked with villagers to improve their local trails, the result is easy-going routes through pristine mountain scenery. This trail was designed to howcase the local Tamang culture and is best when combined with many Buddhist festivals throughout the year. The openhearted hospitality of the Tamang people makes any welcome something special, especially if you visit during their festivals.

Ruby Valley provide a true gem of the trek in more ways than one! Some terrific views combine with authentic mountain hospitality to form one of the best low-altitude treks in Nepal. The trails are open throughout the year expect for late January/mid February, when snow can close the remoter areas for few weeks. Add some intriguing history about a desert gem mine and it’s time to go!

Itinerary

Wow! Finally the day have arrived, the very first day when we will meet with each
other. This day you will be here in Kathmandu after hours of flight. We will pick you
up at the airport and drive you to the hotel where you at staying at.

Altitude: 1350m
Overnight: Hotel in Kathmandu

You get to meet your crew who will be helping you throughout the trek. Thamel is a
bustling city full of tourist attractions and home to various local and international cui
sines. You can take a stroll and indulge yourself in street food delicacies. Your guide
will help you do a final gear check and shop for necessities. Enjoy dining with your
new friends. This day is for the preparation for gear check and permit issuing. You
can do a tour around Kathmandu valley as well as Kathmandu is rich in Monuments,
Stupas, Cultural Heritage and culture.

The drive from Kathmandu offers both good views of Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and
Langtang and brief glances of village life in the Himalaya. The first section is sealed
road to Trishuli before the precipitous dirt road to the National Park check post and
our destination of Dunche to Syabru Besi. It is seven and hour drive.

We soon leave Syabru Besi and the road behind as we climb up through oak and
pine forest to Briddim. There is a checkpoint on the north of Syabrubesi and leads
to Bhote Koshi. You need to cross the bridge across the Bhote Khosi. Moving on
you will reach to village of Wangel. Afterward you need to enter the mixed forest of
pine and Rhododendron and after hours you will reach on the edge of a basin above
Briddim. Now, you can descend towards the Briddim village.This trail includes wel
coming at community centre, cultural performance, and accommodation at typical
Tamang house, village walk, Monastery visit, nature walk and the others.

The friendly village of Briddim hugs the hillside explore high Kharka which is 3000m.
A short trek today through beautiful rhododendron and pine forest to Timbure and
interested can take bath in hot spring water on in river (Bhote Koshi). The afternoon
trail includes Rasuwa – Tibet border, cultural performance, village walk, Monastery
visit, nature walk and the others. As we leave Timbure behind and cross the river
and climb up through rhododendron and pine forest to Dalphedi. The trail climbs
more gradually from Dalphedi to a ridge to the south of the village. The trail descend
through Thuman in about 2 hours.

The trail is sometime steep and there is no reliable source of water so make sure
you pack enough supplies. The trail from Koto heads north through a spectacular
gorge carved by the Phu Khola. At first the gorge is quite wide and fine trees form
a dense forest down to the rivers edge. Then we begin to cross back and forth over
the river as the gorge narrows before the trail climbs a little steeply. Just before we
get to Dharamsala the trail winds behind a large waterfall and then a slight climb to
our camp for the night.

We just leave Nagthali behind and climb up to Ridge Camp. Ridge camp is more
awesome place from where you can see all high ranges like Ganesh Himal, Lang
tang, Shisha Pangma, Dorje Lakpa and lots of mountains. After some time spending
there we will descend back to Nagthali.

After a proper breakfast, you will start After sunrise views today we move down from
Nagthali.As you descend you will notice a village called Brimdang, where there are
lots of Chautara above stone stairways. You can ask the local the way to Tatopani and
they will provide you the guidelines. In Tatopani you will take hot bath at hot spring
water (Tato-Pani). People believe that if they take bath over Hot Sprring Water then
their illness and their all skin problem will be solved. Even they believe that if they bath
over there then childhood illness also remove from them. It’s a quite good plus fun.

A wonderful day awaits us today! Our trail begin from Tatopani to Chilme(which is
big valley and where is Hydro electicity Chilme Power house is located). The trail begins and you will follow the rough stone-path which descend and then we reach Gonggang. After that we continue towards Chilme . At Chilme there is an old Gompa made
of wooden. After walking through a series of chorten and main walls we will have
marks written to entry Gatlang. By the time we reach our destination we will enjoy old
Tamang Traditional, Monastery, holy places and pilgrimage.There are hundreds of
farming plots terracing the landscapes

We will start our by climbing uphill reaching the famous sacred Kunda called Parvati
Kund, the areas representing Hindu shrine. The lake was once blessed by the ancient
Guru Rinpoche. The trail then leads through rhododendron and pine forest leading to
Yuri Kharka which have a scenic view during summer and spring season. Our overnight stay will be in Yuri Kharka.
Enjoy the beauty of the Kharka and have some picture with the nature!

After leaving Yuri Khara you will trek uphill for about 2 hours. The trails usually
pass through small trail into the rhododendron forest. Then we will pass through
Khurpa Danda pass (and then decent toward Khurpu Bhanjyang, crossing Somdang river. We will head toward the west and descend towards Somdang which
will be our destination for the day.

Todays journey will start after we leave Somdang behind. The trails have uphill climb
through the forest and a small pass. The trail starts to get steep and rocky, slowly
heading towards Pangsang pass. It gives the best view point of Manaslu and Ganesh
Himal range after reaching Pangsang Pass. We have to climb through more beautiful forest up to a large pasture called Pangsang Kharka. Pangsang hill is a beautiful
hill between Somdang and Tipling village. This pass connects with Singla pass, and
Ganesh Himal ridge, the Paldor peak and Ganesh Himal rise. This trek offers you the
muti-cultural from different ethnicity such as Ghale, Gurung, and Tamang.

We will descend from Pangsang to Tipling through jungle. After descending from
Pangsang Pass you will reach Pansan Kharka where people graze their cattles. Leaving the Kharka you will head toward Tipling, a large settlement of Gurung community.
They are very welcoming and friendly.

Today we will head towards Borang. Leaving Tipling village we will reach
Sertung also known as sister village. The people of Serthung is a place popular for farming crops so most of the people are farmers. Today’s journey is
a bit tiring as you need to go up and downs. You will descend from Serthung
and reach Awal gaon and Borang Gaon.

Today’s journey will leads us to Lapa Goan. We will walk on the trails
were will will encounter few small villages. The terrace trial framing land,
streams and majestic view will be eye capturing. After ups and down the
path we will reach Lapa Gaon.
Lapa Gaon a village in Dhading District is the largest Gurung village. The
village is a traditional village of Hinu, Buddhist culture and traditon that
welcomes you with the traditional dance and costume by the locals. The
big village is a warm welcoming village that welcomes you to the beautiful
village. This day you can roam around the village, communicate with the
local, enjoy the beautiful village and surrounding and many more.

We will trek uphill from Lapa gaon to Magne Goth Kharka. There are many up and
downs after Magne Goth Kharka. You need pass through a dense jungle. You will see
different types of wild animals monkeys, red panda and deers. You will also see yak
grazing during the trek. The Nauban Kharka is at middle of the jungle. This place is
mostly famous for camping.

The trek will start after you leave Naubankharka and then head towards Duchet. Today’s journey will be mostly the downhill trail. You will be trekking into the forest and
streams passing some villages. The view of the mountains, streams and village will
make your journey worthwhile.

We will start the journey by heading today Manbu, a beautiful village. The trail through
the paddy field, streams, river, and the villages will make our ways towards Soti Khola. You will be staying at Soti Khola.
Altitude: 700m

In this day we will return back to Kathmandu on a private Bus or Jeep. You will pass
Arkhrt Bazar and Dhading. On the way you will see the beautiful views of the Manaslu,
Ganesh Himal, villages and beautiful terrace farming. This day you can stop by many
popular restaurants on the way to have your favorite foods and drinks that you were
craving for.
