Overview

Pisang Peak Climbing

Pisang Peak Climbing is the most commonly attempted peak climbing in the Annapurna region due to its location north of the Manang Valley, which is part of the popular Annapurna Circuit trek. Though almost “mainstream” it’s no walk in the park, with a summit height of 6,091m and base camp only reachable by walking through a tough mountain landscape.  The shifting environments, differing societies and a perpetually changing scene – lavish, green paddy fields and oak woodlands, dry deserts, and the most profound crevasse on the planet make this trek a memorable experience.

The Trek Your 18 day Pisang Peak Climbing adventure begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Dharapani. We start the trek amongst marshy paddy fields, picking up height through oak and pine forests to Manang and Pisang. Then we strike out for our base camp through scrubby woodland and fields. We set up camp at 4,380m.

High Camp is at 5,400m on a shoulder on the South-West Ridge. With the loveliest high rises towering far up in the Himalayan sky, the view sweeps from Pisang town through yak pastures in a uniform slant of ice and snow to the last summit pyramid. There are astounding perspectives from the summit over the Manang Valley and the Annapurna Range. Even people with little climbing experience can achieve this point.

After summiting, we’ll trek on to Manang valley and proceed up to Thorang Pedi and the Thorong La pass. We then explore a heavenly sanctuary in Muktinath. Our trek finishes at Jomsom, with a flight back to Pokhara ready for takeoff to Kathmandu city the following day.

Pisang peak is less demanding than other peaks. But it is also physically challenging. The best months for the Pisang Peak Climbing are October and November in harvest time, and April and May in the spring.
