Langtang Trek

( pine forest, streams, valleys of daisies and primulas, Nepal’s first National Park, visited by far fewer trekkers, close up views of the Langtang and Jugal Himal, known as the ‘ valley of glaciers’, experience Tibetan cultute and life firsthand, collect blessings at old Buddhist shrines like the Langtang Gompa and the Kyangjin Gompa, help the local Langtang people recovering after the 2015 earthquake)

The Langtang trek is one of the hidden treasures of Nepal. The valley, so close from the capital city is visited by far fewer trekkers than the Everest Base Camp and the Annapurna Base Camp. The best time to visit would be Sep-May. You can experience the untouched authentic Tibetan Culture and life firsthand. You can also get blessings at old Buddhist shrines like the Kyangjin Gompa. The trek is visually pleasing as well with the pine forest, cold streams, valley of daisies and the Mountain View. This place has recently been opened for trekking after the 2015 earthquake. So, you can have a wonderful time in Nepal while also helping the local people re-establish themselves.

Day 1: Free day in Kathmandu
After your arrival, our guide will come greet you at the airport. We will move you into a 3 star hotel in the bustling city of Thamel. After getting some rest and food in you, our guide will introduce you with the rest of the crew. We can walk around and shop for some necessities. Tonight, we can have dinner with the crew or you can choose to have a quiet evening before the big day tomorrow.
Altitude: 1400 m
Overnight : 3 star hotel

Day 2: Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (private jeep)
After breakfast, we leave for Syabrubesi. This drive of around 7-8 hours will take you through winding hills and small villages. We will get to enjoy views of Annapurna, Manaslu and peaks of Langtang ahead. During months of March and April, the rhododendron trees are in full bloom and full of trees, butterflies and birds. (LUNCH?) At Syabrubesi, there are traditional houses of wood. You can go around the village with one of the crew members to explore.
Altitude: 1450 m
Overnight: Local teahouse

Day 3: Syabrubesi to Changang (lama hotel)
Today is the first day of our trek. Crossing the Bhote Koshi river, we will make our way towards Lama Hotel. Originally, the village’s name is Changang but it got renowned as Lama hotel, it being the first one established there. We will have a river following us all the way. We may get to see the white monkeys, Langur and many more wild ones; red panda, wild boars and Himalayan Black bears etc. We will have our lunch at Bamboo and then after, continue to Rimche. The ascent to Lama Hotel is a pretty steep one but a comfortable bed in a cozy room will be waiting for us at the top.
Altitude: 2470 m
Overnight: Local teahouse

Day 4: Changang to Langtang
(BREAKFAST, LUNCH?) The Langtang Khola is home to numerous bird species, wild monkeys and the red panda. If you missed them the other day, you may get to see them again today. We continue to follow the Langtang Khola climbing steeply through hemlocks, oaks and maples to Ghoratabela. The next part of the trail is a reminder of the 2015 earthquake. Where Langtang village once was, there is now only a huge rock field. We will take a moment to offer our prayers for the ones who lay resting here and move forward remembering that we are helping the survivors get back to their lifestyle. The trail ascends gradually and we will pass by many mani walls, water-driven prayer wheels before arriving in the Langtang village.
Altitude: 3430 m
Overnight: Local teahouse

Day 5: Langtang to Kyangjin Gompa
After breakfast, we make our way towards the Kyangjin Gompa. We climb gradually past the yak pastures. As the valley widens, we will see more of the Langtang, Tserko Ri and many more mountains. We will also see the first of Kyangjin Gompa and the dramatic icefall flowing from Langtang Lirung and Langtang Kinshung to the north. Before we get to Kyangjing, we can find a colorful Chaitya from where we can have panoramic view of mountains at all directions. Crossing two small ridge from the Chaitya leads us to the beautiful Kyangjin valley. We will arrive at noon so after lunch, you can walk around the village and explore at ease.
Altitude: 3830 m
Overnight: Local teahouse

Day 6: Kyangjin Gompa rest
Kyangjin Village is named after the gompa that has been there for more than six centuries now. We can get our blessings from a holy person. There is also a government owned cheese factory so you can buy some snacks and goodies if you want to. We can climb up to the Kyangjin Danda that offers exceptional panoramic view of the mountains. Or, you can lay back and chill for the day.
Altitude: 3830 m
Overnight: Local teahouse

Day 7: Kyangjin Gompa to Changang
We retrace our steps back to the Langtang village and then to Ghoratabela. Our lunch will be at Ghoratabela. The descent will certainly be faster than the ascent so we can take breaks in between for glimses of the beautiful valley once in a while.
Altitude: 2470 m
Overnight: Local teahouse

Day 8: Changang to Syabrubesi
Today is the last day of our trek.
